Imam Omar Shakir, who leads Masjid Bilal Ibn Rabah of San Antonio will present significant U.S. Islamic history which has often been overlooked. His emphasis will be on the important period since 1930. Sister Martha Ann Kirk, Th.D. will share an introduction of Nostra aetate, the document promoting Catholic respect for and dialogue with people of other religions. She was mentored by Fr. Thomas Stransky at Tantur Ecumenical Institute, Jerusalem, who drafted this document of the Second Vatican Council. We remember that 2025 was the 60th anniversary of Nostra aetate, one of the most significant documents of the Second Vatican Council.
