Dr. Sandra L. Guzman Foster earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Arizona State University where she was also a Gates Millennium Scholar and a Spencer Interdisciplinary Fellow. Dr. Guzman Foster currently serves as the Director for the Center for Teaching and Learning at UIW.  She is also an Associate Professor and continues to serve as a dissertation chair in the doctoral program in the Dreeben School of Education. 

 

Prior to joining UIW, Dr. Guzman Foster worked as an education consultant where she worked on several projects such as leading research and evaluation teams, developing course curriculum for online programs, and serving as a research subject matter expert. Dr. Guzman Foster has experience teaching at the K-12 level, community college level, and at the university level in Texas, Arizona, and Colorado.  Dr. Guzman Foster was the 2021-2022 Moody Professor and the recipient of the 2021 Mission Continues Award for Education. In Spring 2022 received the Outstanding Teaching Award in Postsecondary Education in Texas from the National Association of Multicultural Education.  She held the Sister Theophane Power Endowed Chair in Education from 2017-2020. 

 

She currently serves on the editorial review board for the Journal of Trauma Studies in Education, the Curriculum and Teaching Dialogue Journal, and Departures in Critical Qualitative Research Journal.

As a result of being passionate about educational technology and its potential to enhance student academic success, Evelyn enjoys exploring new applications and training faculty, students, and staff on effectively using instructional tools and technology to support student learning. With her educational background and expertise in the field, Evelyn is dedicated to creating engaging and innovative learning experiences that empower students to achieve their academic goals.
