The Lewis Center brings influential leaders from throughout the hemisphere to San Antonio as part of our work to broaden perspectives and ready students to be enlightened citizens of the world. This year's Speaker Series features Nobel Laureate Rigoberta Menchú Tum, a Mayan K’iche’ woman, activist, and social justice advocate from Guatemala who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in 1992.
This event is open to UIW students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.
About the Lewis Center of the Americas
The Liza and Jack Lewis Center of the Americas was established to promote better relations and understanding among the people and nations of the United States, Mexico, Canada, Central and South America through cooperative study, research, service and dialogue. The Lewis Center is designed to serve as a central resource for information and analysis on critical issues of common concern, bringing people together to exchange views, build expertise, expand business opportunities and develop policy options.
