We are excited to announce our first community service event, which will take place at the San Pedro Migrant Resource Center on Friday, November 8th.

Here's the schedule:

  • 8:45 AM: Meet in front of the AD building. A shuttle bus will transport us to the center.
  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Volunteer at the San Pedro Migrant Resource Center.
  • 12:30 PM: Return to UIW.

The Migrant Resource Center (MRC), in collaboration with Catholic Charities Diocese of San Antonio, serves as a temporary place for migrants traveling through San Antonio. The MRC is set up to receive migrants directly transported from non-profit partners in border cities after they are released from U.S. Customs and Border Protection or Immigrations and Customs Enforcement custody. San Antonio is the nearest major transportation hub to these communities.

We will assist with the following:

  • Greet individuals and families.
  • Simply provide a friendly presence by sitting with migrants, offering conversation, and making them feel welcome.
  • Help staff with paperwork, managing donations, or organizing supplies.
  • Distribute basic supplies (food, water, diapers, OTC medicines, etc.).
  • Organize clothing
