As faculty create and revise assignments each semester, the clarity and transparency of the instructions are important factors that influence student performance. Faculty will focus on how multiple content-based factors (i.e., pre-existing content knowledge) and student-based characteristics (i.e., first-generation college student) can be considered in reshaping their approaches to clear and direct assignment instructions.
